Our Potential Target Audience

Then genre of our film will be a high school drama, vampire and psychological thriller. The main target audience we are aiming from our product is 15-25 as a primary audience. This is because of the content in our film that we are going to use e.g. Blood and Bad Language- this would not be appropriate for the people under the age of 15. Our product will be aimed males and females reason being because of the genres that we are using (Psychological Thriller) which can appeal to both genders. For example: The film Twilight is classed as the teen and vampire genre, which features both boys and girls and does not involve or focus on just the one gender. The film that we are planning to create can mostly appeal to British people as characters that are going to be involved are British, the audience are able to relate to the characters more being that the conventions of what we are creating are different to other ethnicity's e.g British School is different to the American school that we see in films etc.

Our audience linked with JICNAR- can link to 15-25 old's that have disposable income.  These are in the group D&E with our age group being in education and may having jobs, if your lower down in the scale it has a limitation about spending money because people around that age don't have bills or other important things to spend on. We have got to encourage the audience to go and see our film because of there disposable income and can want to see the film and want to spend there money on going to see it, it may put pressure on our trailer to make it look good because of the JICNAR Scale.  My secondary target audience may be relatives, siblings and parents because of their relationship with the primary target audience so as a result the secondary target audience will have different demographics between 26 and over. The JICNAR scale being anything between A to E. People between 15 to 18 are mostly going to be in education, and 18 over more likely to have a job or e at university which makes it more likely for them to go to the cinema or buy a film or being kept up to date with the latest movies that are coming out.

  • Slow paced music to build up the tension so the audience can get a general idea
  • Directors and creators of the film
  • Does not have a huge end, shows the film to be different

The film is about an inventor who tries to break an unbreakable code from the messages the Nazi's are sending back and fourth. He believes that him and his machine can do it alone but is forced to work with the smartest people in Britain to all break the code. The main character who is played by Benedict Cumberbatch has a massive secret throughout the film which is illegal at that specific time period being that he is Gay. Him and his team try to carry on to break the code but get shutdown with it being to much money, they eventually all get that investigation back and try there hardest to figure out the messages that are being sent. Enigma is the hardest code to break and they broke it.
  • By looking at the trailer we see very old fashioned clothing e.g. tweed, but also army wear this shows the audience what time period the film is set in.
  • Mr Turing (Benedict Cumberbatch) is shown to be very clean cut and groomed which could give the audience an impression that he is a bold and mysterious character being that he has a 'secret'
  • See Mr Turning and his arrogance within the trailer and also his protection over his invention but also being adamant on doing this process on his own, which could portray a type of loneliness that he  likes by being on his own.
  • Also scenes of him not wanting a group to help him because he may think his secret will come out, but then he finds Joan Clarke (Kiera Knightly) and she softens him up to be a nicer person to the other team members which could also link with his secret of being gay to attach and mix more with women other than men.
  • Shows the relationship between the man who invented the machine and the machine and how the machine has a hold over him and what he does or how he acts.
  • When Joan Clarke was hired she tries to give him advice about the other liking him and being able to break the code together. If Mr Turing remains stubborn then this will not happen- shows the audience how he doesn't click with the other men on the team but also what his personality is like.
  • Gives the audience an insight on how the machine works but also if it does work at the end of the trailer to create a buzz and want the audience to go see the film.
